SELECTED WORK / special packages
As an editor, I oversee and edit special packages across identity, health, beauty, lifestyle, and more. Here are a few of my proudest below.
Mental Health in the apia community
In May 2024, I spearheaded a special package for APIA Heritage Month spotlighting mental health journeys from APIA perspectives. Mental health has long been stigmatized in the APIA community, and this collection of stories hopes to confront the shame around going to therapy, seeking help, and talking about our feelings. Here are a few stories I assigned, edited, and/or wrote as part of the package:
Chloe Kim Gets Candid About Her "Never-Ending" Mental Health Journey
Therapy Helped Me Find Pride in My South Asian Heritage
Hypnotherapy Helped Me Reconcile Growing Up as an Outsider in America
Asian Men Are Taught to Suppress Our Emotions. I'm Changing That For My Kids.
the educators
In August 2024, I led a package featuring mini profiles of 24 public school teachers across the country who are making a difference. The diverse class of educators included a sex ed teacher creating the health class young folks deserve, a middle school art teacher on a mission to teach beyond the binary, and an Indigenous second grade teacher embodying the importance of representation in the classroom.
